Waikiki, Honolulu
A Dovetail Original
Dovetail + Co acquired Waikiki Sand Villa, a full-service hotel, in 2021 and repositioned the hotel as Wayfinder Waikiki in the summer of 2023 following an extensive transformation. Wayfinder Waikiki is one of three Wayfinder Hotels created by Dovetail + Co.
Wayfinder Waikiki, steps from the birthplace of modern surfing on Waikiki Beach, is an immersive space rooted in the spirit of Aloha and Oahu’s rich history. With locals at the helm, our hidden oasis is a fresh take on a Hawaii hotel, one steeped in personal stories and connections.
Designed in collaboration with The Vanguard Theory, the hotel merges the building’s Brutalist architecture with tropical touches, electrifying colors and patterns, alongside lush foliage specific to the island. The 228 guestrooms are inspired by the sites, stories and heritage of Hawaii, blending shades that represent the land, sky and water, as well as geometric and floral prints, and natural fiber furniture with decorative art and design elements incorporated throughout by local artisans.
The Wayfinder Waikiki is also home to several culinary venues, entertainment and shopping experiences including B-Side, a sensory coffee shop that also features a retail store within; Lost + Found, a tropical speakeasy and pool bar; and Redfish Waikiki, bringing Foodland’s poke restaurant concept to Waikiki.
